Vanya Mishra (born 27 February 1992) in Jalandhar was crowned the winner of Femina Miss India on March 30, 2012. She is currently doing her under graduate program in Electrical Engineering from PEC University of Technology. She had to compete with the 19 other models for the top honor, the Pantaloons Femina Miss India World 2012 Title.
Vanya always had a knack for social work. As a child she used to visit the school of visually impaired with her mother and insisted that she would pledge her eyes. She got a direct entry into the finals after being declared as the winner of Dabur Gulabari Miss Rose Glow 2011 contest. Her answer to the final question 'If you have an option, will you create thousand jobs or feed thousand children daily?' (sic) , which won her the award was, "Little children are innocent and anybody's heart will melt. I will also try to give them education so that they can feed themselves and their family too"(sic). She was also crowned Dabur Gulabari Miss Rose Glow 2012, Bharathi Vidyapeeth Femina Miss Photogenic 2012, Maybelline Femina Miss Colossal Eyes 2012 and Dabur Femina Miss Beautiful Skin 2012 in the subcontests of Pantaloons Femina Miss India.
Vanya represented India at the Miss World 2012 pageant in Dongsheng Fitness Center Stadium, Ordos, Inner Mongolia, China on 18th August 2012. She won the Miss Social Networking and Miss Beauty with a Purpose title and was able to make it to the the top 7, but was unable to win the crown,though she had scored more points than all the other six finalists in the previous rounds of assessment, leading to the final round. In 'Dances of the World', Vanya danced on a mujra number on the song 'Dil Cheez Kya Hai' which got rave reviews.

Rahul Sharma is a fast rising star of Indian cricket team. Rahul Sharma was born on 30 November 1986 in Jalandhar. He is primarily a right-handed legbreak and googly bowler. He has been a member of the Punjab cricket team since 2006. He came into the limelight due to his impressive bowling performances in IPL 2011 for Pune Warriors.
Rahul started as a medium pacer but soon turned to leg spin on his coach Devender Arora's insistence (Devender Arora is also Harbhajan Singh's coach). He made his debut in first class cricket on 25 December 2006 for Punjab against Rajasthan, but had to wait till 2009 to play again. In 2009-10 season of the Ranji Trophy, he took 13 wickets in seven first class games. Rahul played only one Ranji match in the 2010-11 season.
Rahul hails from a middle class family. Rahul's father Pradeep Sharma, is an assistant sub inspector in Punjab Police and his mother Indu sharma is a homemaker. Rahul is a graduate in Commerce from Delhi University and has been auctioned in the IPL for high prices. He currently resides in Jalandhar with his mother and father and with a sister and a brother

In 2010, Rahul Sharma made his IPL debut for Deccan Chargers. He took just five wickets and went at 8.08 an over in the six matches he played for Deccan Chargers. In the 2011 IPL, Rahul Sharma made a name for himself with some good bowling performances for Pune Warriors. His figures of 4-0-7-2 against Mumbai Indians were the most economical of 2011 Indian Premier League and the performance created enough of a buzz to see his name trend on twitter in India.
On 8 December 2011, Rahul Sharma made his ODI debut for India in the 4th ODI against the West Indies and took three wickets. All three batsmen were bowled. In the same match Virender Sehwag set a new record(219) for the highest score in ODIs.
Rahul Sharma scored his first run in One Day Internationals against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 5 February 2012. He scored 1 run off 2 balls before being bowled by Xavier Doherty.
On 1 February 2012, Rahul Sharma made his Twenty20 International debut for India in the 1st T20 of the series against Australia at the Stadium Australia/Sydney Olympic Park currently known as ANZ Stadium.He injured his finger while bowling his first over but came back later to continue bowling. His first Twenty20 International wicket was that of David Hussey who was bowled clean.
Unfortiunately On 20th July 2012, Rahul Sharma along with Wayne Parnell, players representing Pune Warriors India in the 2012 edition of the Indian Premier League, both tested positive for recreational drugs, after being detained by the Mumbai police on May 20. The duo were detained following a police raid on a rave party in the upmarket Mumbai area of Juhu during IPL V. Rahul Sharma, who tested positive for drugs has been left out from the ODI squad for the first ODI against SriLanka at Hambantota Twenty20 International Debut

Sarbjit's full name is Sarbjit Gill. He is from the famous Shahkot city of Punjab, India. His father's name is Sr. Balbir Singh Gill and his late grandfather's name is Sr. Mohinder Singh Gill. His grandfather' was one of the pioneering businessmen in a the nearby Shahkot area. Sarbjit is now well known in the Shahkot area too, as his "MEET Bhangra Group" is doing very well. Sarbjit loved to sing since his childhood but from his college days while participating in cultural programs his love for singing got deeper .
In the past he used to do bhangra with all his heart and soul until he was in India and sung "Booliyan" (folk song) along with it, just because of this he set up his mind on music and started singing eventually too.
Since he loved this part of his life, he kept it alive after coming to Canada from India. After a while, he chose the line of devotional singing and came up with "Jai Durga Jagran Party" since then this Jagran Party is Known to be the founder of Jagran in vancauver Canada.
A "Harmonium" has seven scales(sur) from which develop all "raag" in this world. This "raag" part of music has lot of strength which can make a person laugh and cry too. Every singer should have the ability to recognize the "raag". Sarbjit has a very good Knowledge of these "raags" and he was a certified artist of Jalandhar T.V. he play keyboard and harmonium very well and has performed with alot of the singers from Canada and from India.
When he start playing keyboard while singing devotional singing, it touches so many hearts that all the listeners get so much into it that they clapping it seems like the whole universe is singing with him. His music Guru was Late Amarjit Shahkoti and in Jagrata it is Shri Ashok Jain Shahkoti.In devotional line he got his "aashirwad"(bless) from Shri Narender Chanchal ji. Sarbjit's devotional music will be available very soon on recorded media such as CDs and DVDs.
He is very nice person with a very pleasing personality. His personality draws a lot of fans who gets attached to him. He has performed with his Party doing "Jagran" in most cities of Canada and U.S.A. in India as well. He is also involved in doing public service and thinks it's is duty to help needy people. His father started teaching him music when he was six years old and after four years of learning he came with the legendary album CHARKHE DI GHOOK. He was only ten years old at the time. At such a young age he showed so much maturity with his hold on sufi music. He still gets asked to sing thi song repeatedly on all his shows. His father as most of you may already know is the famous Sufi singer. Pooran Shahkoti is also the Guru of Punjab's Raj gayak Hans raj Hans. Mr. Hans treats Saleem as younger brother.

The rising star from Jalandhar is Jassi Kochar who is a professional comedian and an actor. He was born on Feb 23, 1983 into the family of S. Harjinder Singh of Sangat Singh Nagar in Jalandhar City.
He graduated with Literature and music from St. Soldiers College in 2005 and did his post graduate diploma in computer applications in 2006.
He played lead roles in many Punjabi skits at various GNDU youth festivals between 2002-2006.
He also played a lead role in critically acclaimed stage play "Aghor". This show was staged all over Punjab and Himachal and won many hearts.
He also played prominent roles in other plays such as "Jalta Hua Rath"
He has been performing on many stage stand up shows in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states.,
He has been entertaining Punjabis with his performances in Punjabi Comedy show "Hasde Hasde Raho" on channel Mh1.
He has acted in various programs on Doordarshan Jalandhar such as ‘King Kaun Haseyan Da, Kalu sheikh Chilli’ etc.
He also did Stand up comedy in program ‘Ticher’ for channel Punjab (an international Punjabi entertainment channel)
He also performed stand up comedy in ‘Johhny Aala re’ on Zee t.v.
His performance in ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge III’ on Star One won him many fans all over the world.

She is charming millions of people from all over the world with her talent in Indian Comedy Show on Star Plus. She is not only a very talented comedian and does so good mimicry but she is also a trained Indian classical vocalist.
Sugandha Mishra forayed into music at the age of three. She started learning the music at a very young age from her grandfather Pandit Shanker Lal Mishra, who has been the direct disciple of late Ustad Amir Khan of Indore, Pandit Bhola Nath Bhatt of Allahabad and Pandit Narayan Rao Joshi of Gwalior. Her uncle, Dr Arun Mishra, is a known sitarist.
Sugandha did her bachelors at the Apeejay College of Fine Arts. A string of awards has been coming her way since the age of twelve when she bagged the first prize in the Open Music Competition of the Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan. During North Zonal and Inter-University Youth Festival 2000, she secured the first position in classical vocal and bhajan. She stood second in classical vocal in All-India University Youth Festival held at Varanasi in January 2001.
She bagged the first prize in the 7th National Youth Festival held at Hisar in 2002. She secured the first position in classical vocal music competition during North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival held at Allahabad in 2002. She again got the first position in Western solo during North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival competition held at Allahabad in 2002. She bagged the first prize in classical vocal music in the 8th National Open Youth Festival held in 2003. The state government awarded her Rs. 1 lakh for her outstanding achievement in the field of classical vocal
music. In 2004 again, she secured the first positions in Western solo, Western group song, classical vocal solo and mimicry in zonal, inter-zonal and north zone inter-university youth festivals.
She says that her guru does not like my dabbling in Western music and mimicry but in her opinion versatility is no disqualification. She feels comfortable singing Western solo and doing mimicry. Music, for her, is akin to "tapasaya".
Her dream is to be a classical vocalist.
